Whether it’s a Galentine’s on Zoom or a lockdown date night at home, it’s no secret that Valentine’s Day is going to be a little different this year. However, although we’re restricted on how we can celebrate, that doesn’t mean we can’t create the perfect night in at home – with a little help from Jack’s supermarket! I don’t know about you, but this past year, more than ever, I’ve appreciated the little things a lot more – with one of them being a delicious home-cooked meal and a glass of something fizzy at the weekend. With Valentine’s around the corner, it’s the perfect excuse to go the extra mile when it comes to date night at home, whether that’s with family, someone special or even just on a Zoom call!
To spread the love his year (Lord knows we all need it!) Jack’s supermarket are offering the most amazing Valentine’s day deal, which means you can enjoy a restaurant-worthy feast at home for less than £30! So, when I was asked to create my ideal Valentine’s dinner, I didn’t hesitate to get to my local Jack’s to see what goodies were on offer. Available for less than £10 was two bake at home baguettes and a whole le Rustique camembert (I mean, warm bread and camembert – what could be better?!), two steaks and a delicious vegetable medley and to end the meal, two chocolate melt in the middle pots. A delicious bottle of Prosecco completes the meal at just an additional £6.50.
For my Valentine’s meal, I went with the Camembert and bread to start and the steaks for a main as these always feel like such a treat. Instead of the veg medley I decided to whip up a super fresh Greek salad and added a Jack’s post of olives and some roasted broccoli using a marinade of sesame oil, soy sauce and honey as well as some sweet potato mash. To accompany the steaks, I grabbed a pot of peppercorn sauce and added some garlic doughballs on the side (because, why not?!). For dessert, I swapped the chocolate pots for a bake at home apple crumble and a delicious pot of super creamy custard – there’s no better dessert in my opinion!! The entire meal went down an absolute treat from start to finish and I’m still in awe at how much you can grab from Jack’s on such a small budget. With £30, I was able to buy all of my Valentine’s goodies as well as bits for my essential weekly shop!
So, although Valentine’s day may not seem as exciting this year, there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t go all out and celebrate at home – even on a small budget! Whether it’s your local supermarket or you’ve never been into Jack’s before, id highly recommend taking a trip for your essential shop and sneaking your Valentine’s feast into your trolley at the same time!!
